Mark, Jenny, Alex, Rikus and Anna spent Monday morning learning all about paint in the in-store environment. Glen guided us through 3 very different retail stores: Laughton's in Sea Point, LT Discount in WoodStock and Builder's Warehouse City. We learnt a lot, including the fact that buying paint is a lot like buying a cellphone or a computer in that many people buy paint with features that they will never use (paint with a UV guard to use in the interior, for example), largely due to lack of information / education available.
The in-store environment is quite a challenge since hardware stores are often short on space, which means you need to be a little smarter and acknowledge that there isn't really a one-size-fits-all solution to the on-trade. Anyway, we had a good time, and all feel very inspired to do a bit of decor at home.
